What is your favorite isumu products?
I would say the statue of Ashura is definitely one of my favourite from isumu’s wide products range. In contrast to the traditional Ashura statue we would normally seen inside the monasteries, this particular Ashura statue tend to depicts more of a humanised expression of compassion look than the traditional hostile and fierce deity look we tend to know.
This statue of Ashura with compassion look symbolises he is the true reflection of Bodhisattvas and dharma protector descending from the heavenly realm to guide us compassionately through ups and downs in our daily life.
Besides Ashura, I like the image of Miroku Bosatsu as well. It also depicts an uncommon image that are not easily seen outside Japan and Korea. The simple posture with distinctive hand gesture which looks like the Maitreya Buddha is contemplating on his own teaching - Yogacarabhumi-sastra.
